The world often tells us our story begins when we meet "the one." But God tells a different story. Our identity is not found in our relationship status—it’s found in Jesus.
This series is an invitation to embrace your singleness with purpose, joy, and live your life now not waiting for some potential future time. My goal is to help you embrace where God has you right now in your singleness, choose joy in the midst of it, and see how God shows up for you.
If you’re reading this, your life probably looks very different than you thought it would.
Here are some things you might think to yourself:
I thought I’d be married right now or at least in a relationship.
I’m the last person in my friend group not married or coupled up.
If I have to go to one more wedding without a date I’m not sure what I’ll do.
I hate going home for the holidays because I always get asked if I’m dating anyone. Am I not enough on my own?
Why has no one chosen me to love?
I get it. I’m with you. I’ve had all these thoughts and more.
I’ve been single for many years. More years than I would want to be, if I’m being completely honest.
I’ll share a bit of my story through this blog series, but mainly I want to share how I work daily to trust God as He continues to write my story. One that looks VERY different from the version I pictured for myself.
Here’s what I believe: Joy is something we have to seek out and choose daily. It doesn’t just happen to us and it’s not only found in a romantic relationship.
"In your presence there is fullness of joy.”––Psalm 16:11
In relationship with Jesus is where our joy can truly be found.
I struggle to believe this some days. I think I’d be happier in a relationship or that I’d experience more joy if that status was different. Then, I remind myself that God is my source of joy. I turn my thoughts back to the One who chose me and loves me deeper than any human ever could. I choose to trust Him to fill me with the joy and abundant life He longs to help me live.
There is joy and pain, highs and lows, good times and bad no matter your relationship status.
God has not forgotten you and He is not holding out on you.
Joy can be found right here and now. No altar or romantic relationship required.
It is possible to Choose Joy.
